Make it With Wool

Have you heard of the Make it With Wool competition? It is a nation-wide competition "to promote the beauty and versatility of wool fabrics & yarns".

Skirt & coat set made by Karen Wisseman, owner & operator of this fabulous shop!

Our local (county) competition is coming up in about a month. The winners will then go on to the state competition in December & whoever wins state will go onto the national finals in Arizona at the beginning of next year.

You should definitely check out the news & events page from this year. It's got some great stories about this year's winners.

The skirt

I really have no idea what I'm getting myself into yet, but I have a couple things planned so we'll see how it all pans out.

And remember how we were talking about chenille the other day? Look at this beautiful chenille coat Karen made with 4 layers of beautiful wool.

Each of the participants also get a bit of Pendleton wool. Yes please!

Below, the plaid is a piece Karen won recently & she will be pairing it with the light tan colored wool for another fun skirt & top combo this year.

If you've never done this, but want to participate contact your state MIWW representative and get sewing!

  1. How fun! I hadn't heard about this competition. I've never made anything aside from a pincushion out of wool. Good luck!
